Writing Contest Rules
Prizes
- Subject to the rules listed below; 1st Place will recieve Q1,000, 2nd Place will receive Q650 and 3rd Place will receive Q350
- One contestant may write multiple articles and win all three prizes.
Contest Duration
Submissions will be accepted until January 15, 2007. The winner will be announced on February 1, 2008.
Ownership
- All submissions must be original articles written by you, you may not submit articles written by another person.
- Articles must not be licensed to any other party or printed in any publication.
- Upon request you must provide any documentation requested to prove that you are the writer of the submitted article.
Acceptable Articles
- All articles must be at least 500 words and no more than 2,000 words.
- Images may be included in your articles so long as they are not pornographic and are related to the subject of the article.
- Links to other websites are expressly prohibitted.
- Meta tags and Keywords in your article are encouraged so long as they relate to your article.
- Resubmission of an article already submitted is expressly prohibitted.
- Articles must be about Guatemala or something to do with Guatemala.
- Articles must be written in English.
Judging
- The winning entry will be determined by visitors to our website who rate the articles.
- In order to qualify, an article must be in the top 25% of votes recieved. In other words, if an article receives a rating of "5" but only has a few votes it does not qualify. In no case will a winning article have less than 100 votes.
- It is permitted and even encouraged that you put links to your article on other websites to encourage people to vote for you.
- You may not vote for your own article nor may you encourage people to vote for your article repeatedly.
Disqualification or Rejection
- Any breach of the rules, real or imagined by the website staff may result in your article being disqualified. Decisions by the staff to disqualify an article are final and there is no appeal.
- Any article may be rejected, with or without explanation
Editing
Writers agree that articles may be edited to any degree deemed necessary by the website staff.
License
By submitting your aticle online you expressly and irrevocably license this website to publish, print, sell, use, license to third parties or distribute said article in any manner determined by the website with or without credit to the writer.
Rule Changes
If the need arises the rules of this contest may be modified at the discretion of the website staff with or without notification to the contestants.
