Photo Contest Rules

Prizes

1. Subject to the rules listed below; 1st Place will recieve Q1,000, 2nd Place will receive Q650 and 3rd Place will receive Q350
2. One contestant may write multiple articles and win all three prizes.

Contest Duration

Submissions will be accepted until January 15, 2007. The winner will be announced on February 1, 2008.

Ownership

1. All photos must be original photos taken by you, you may not submit photographs taken by another person.
2. Photos must not be licensed to any other party or printed in any publication.
3. Upon request you must provide any documentation requested to prove that you are the photographer of the submitted photo.
4. The age of a foto is not an issue.  Have a great photo from 1984?  Submit it!! 

Acceptable Images

1. All images must be taken with at least a 4 megapixel camera and the entire image must be submitted without being resized.
2. Images must not have any text or watermarks added to them.
3. Images may be altered with Photoshop or similar programs so long as the general content of the photo is not altered.  For example; do not add the image of a wild monkey to a photo of the streets of Antigua.
4. Photos showing any nudity, although appreciated by the website staff, will not be accepted into the contest or shown online.
5. All photos must be related to Guatemala.

Judging

1. The winning entry will be determined by visitors to our website who rate the photos.
2. In order to qualify, a photo must be in the top 25% of votes recieved.  In other words, if a photo receives a rating of "5" but only has a few votes it does not qualify. In no case will a winning photo have less than 100 votes.
3. It is permitted and even encouraged that you put links to your photos on your website to encourage people to vote for you.
4. You may not vote for your own photo nor may you encourage people to vote for your foto repeatedly.

Disqualification or Rejection

1. Any breach of the rules, real or imagined by the website staff may result in your photo being disqualified. Decisions by the staff to disqualify a foto are final and there is no appeal.
2. Any photo may be rejected, with or without explanation.

License

By submitting your photo online you expressly and irrevocably license this website to publish, print, sell, use, license to third parties or distribute said image in any manner determined by the website with or without credit to the photographer.

Rule Changes

If the need arises the rules of this contest may be modified at the discretion of the website staff with or without notification to the contestants.
